In sugar mills, Mulit bag filters are primarily utilized for sugar juice clarification, syrup fine filtration, decolorization and carbon removal, equipment protection, and wastewater pretreatment. Representing a low-cost, easy-to-maintain, and food-grade mainstream filtration solution, they directly enhance the purity and production capacity of white sugar while simultaneously reducing pipe blockages and rework rates.
Sugar Production Process Applications (Applicable to Both Sugarcane and Sugar Beet)
1. Mixed Juice / Primary Press Juice Coarse Filtration (Front-end Pre-treatment)
• Retention: Large particles such as cane trash, fibers, sand, and leaf fragments (50–200 μm).
• Function: Prevents clogging of crushers, pumps, and heat exchangers; reduces the load on subsequent clarification stages; and extends equipment service life.
• Configuration: Bag Filter; Nylon/PP filter bags (100–150 μm); 304/316L stainless steel housing.
2. Clarified Juice Filtration (Post-Lime / Carbonation Treatment)
• Retention:Flocculated precipitates and colloidal impurities, such as calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, and calcium hydroxide.
• Function:Reduces turbidity and color values; enhances the purity of the clarified juice; prevents scaling in evaporators; and improves evaporation efficiency.
• Configuration: Multi-bag Filter; PP bags (20–50 μm);
3. Syrup Fine Filtration (Post-Evaporation, Pre-Crystallization)
• Retention:Fine suspended solids, pigments, microorganisms, and trace amounts of caramel particles.
• Function:Ensures the syrup is clear and transparent; enhances the whiteness and luster of the refined sugar; prevents crystalline inclusions; and elevates product grade.
• Configuration: Mulit bag filter, PTFE/PP filter bags (5–20 μm), food-grade seals.
4. Decolorization and Carbon Removal Filtration (Refined Sugar / Premium White Sugar)
· Retention: Powdered activated carbon, decolorization resin fines (1–10 μm).
· Function: Prevents carbon powder contamination in the finished product, ensuring high purity, low ash content, and the absence of black spots, thereby meeting food-grade standards.
· Configuration: Multi-bag filter, PTFE-laminated filter bags (1–5 μm), high-temperature resistant (≤120°C).
5. Molasses / Waste Molasses Filtration (Recovery and Comprehensive Utilization)
• Retention: Fine fibers, precipitates, and microbial residues.
• Function: Recovers residual sugars and enhances recovery rates; when used in alcohol fermentation processes, it improves fermentation efficiency and ethanol purity.
6. Equipment Protection Filtration (Upstream of Pumps, Heat Exchangers, and Valves)
· Interception: Pipeline welding slag, rust, scale fragments, and material clumps.
· Function: Protects high-speed pump seals, heat exchanger tube bundles, and precision valves; reduces unplanned downtime and maintenance costs.
7. Process Water / Wastewater Pre-treatment (Environmental Compliance & Reuse)
· Interception: Suspended solids, organic matter, and fine sugar residues.
· Function: Reduces COD/BOD levels to meet discharge standards or enable water reuse; alleviates environmental compliance pressures.
