Customized Dewatering Solution for Improved Dairy Farm Manure Management

Efficient manure handling is an increasingly important part of modern dairy farm management. For livestock farms without suitable manure storage facilities, untreated manure can create significant challenges related to labor requirements, odor control, site cleanliness, storage, and environmental management.

HUATAO recently supplied a customized HTHX200-850 Manure Separator with Manual Feeding to a dairy farm in the United Kingdom. The project was developed to help the customer improve the handling of cattle manure and create a cleaner and more manageable farm environment.

The customer operates a dairy farm with approximately 80 cows. Previously, manure was mainly removed through manual cleaning, and because there was no dedicated manure storage pit, the collected waste was piled directly on the ground. During the summer months, the accumulated manure created serious odor problems and negatively affected the farm environment.

To improve the existing manure management process, the customer decided to install a mechanical solid-liquid separation system. A loader will be used to feed the collected manure into the separator, reducing the dependence on manual handling and improving processing efficiency.

 

Customized HTHX200-850 Manure Separator

Based on the customer's farm conditions and material handling requirements, HUATAO customized a Type 200-850 Extended Version Manure Separator with manual feeding.

The equipment configuration includes:

Custom SS304 casing with 1.5 mm thickness

SS304 protective cover for the connection area

Customized SS304 hopper measuring 50 cm × 50 cm

SS304 wedge wire screen with a 0.5 mm slot size

Screen dimensions of 200 mm diameter × 850 mm length

SS304 inlet connection and discharge outlet

SS201 auger shaft with 6 mm thickness

SS201 auger flighting with 8 mm thickness

Q235B channel steel support frame

Stainless steel control box

Locally sourced motor and reducer

The complete supply package includes the Type 200-850 separator, main motor, control box, discharge chute, a 10-meter drainage hose, and two hose clamps. The designed processing capacity is approximately 2 cubic meters per hour of dry matter, depending on the characteristics and consistency of the incoming material. 

 

Efficient Solid-Liquid Separation Through Screw Press Technology

The HUATAO manure separator operates through continuous mechanical compression.

When manure enters the machine, the rotating auger conveys the material forward through the screening and compression section. As the conveying space and pressure conditions change, liquid is separated from the solid material and discharged through the screen.

The remaining solid manure continues toward the discharge section, where additional pressure helps remove more free water from the material.

According to the project requirements, the dewatered manure residue is designed to reach a condition where free water can no longer be squeezed out by hand, with the final moisture content typically around 60%, depending on the material characteristics and operating conditions.
